About the position

The Manager of Applications Engineering is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the Applications Engineering group at Cal Poly. This role involves managing Tier 3 engineering support for a diverse portfolio of applications and technology services, including ERP systems and data integrations. The Manager is expected to foster collaboration, develop staff, and ensure the reliability and consistency of enterprise systems and applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Applications Engineering group, providing Tier 3 engineering support.
• Develop and implement IT engineering principles, standards, and best practices.
• Foster a collaborative environment that encourages communication and continual improvement.
• Manage a diverse portfolio of applications and technology services hosted in AWS and on-premises.
• Oversee the integration of cloud-based technologies with on-premises services.
• Ensure the reliability and consistency of enterprise systems and applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in enterprise IT service management or application development.
• Demonstrated experience with cloud-based technologies and enterprise-scale technologies such as CRM and ERP systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to solve complex problems and influence change in technology policies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a DevOps environment.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and data integration platforms.
