About the position

The Manager Area Process Maintenance position at Sylvamo is a hands-on leadership role focused on providing maintenance support for the PS&D Business Unit. The successful candidate will lead efforts to foster a safe work environment, enhance maintenance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve equipment reliability. This role requires collaboration with operations leadership and managing a small team to ensure effective maintenance practices and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Be a role model and champion for an injury-free workplace and promote safety and excellence in all areas of influence.
  • Direct management of one salaried Front Line Leader and responsibility for their development.
  • Manage maintenance organization for the PS&D department to maximize effectiveness and minimize cost.
  • Work closely with operations leadership to understand their needs and maintain a positive relationship between operations and maintenance.
  • Provide leadership in proactive maintenance practices and process reliability improvements.
  • Lead area outage planning and ensure safe execution of plans.
  • Management of maintenance and repair contractors.
  • Responsible for preparing, monitoring, and managing the area maintenance budget.
  • Responsible for managing checkbook for PS&D department expenses.
  • Champion Reliability and MWS work systems for the Business Unit.
  • Strive for sustained continuous improvements throughout the scope of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum three (3) years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry is preferred.
  • Experience leading troubleshooting and maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience in maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to track and measure performance utilizing standard methods/tools.
  • Ability to lead in a high-performance team environment and get work done through others.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and work well with others.
  • Record of accomplishment of continuous improvement.
  • Strong computer skills including SAP and all Microsoft Office applications.
