About the position

The Area Sales Manager at Sunoco is a pivotal role responsible for driving sales growth in the Northern New England region. This position requires a dynamic leader with strong business acumen and exceptional communication skills to build relationships and generate leads. The Area Sales Manager will negotiate deals, develop proposals, and ensure the achievement of financial targets while providing superior service to customers. The role involves significant travel to engage with new customers and maintain existing relationships, focusing on expanding the customer base and enhancing EBITDA through strategic branding and supply advantages.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares annual budget and growth capital requirements for geography and new customer base.
  • Represents Sunoco LP and its portfolio of brands with credibility and integrity.
  • Acts as a business advisor and credible source of industry knowledge.
  • Communicates the Sunoco LP growth strategy by market and customer channel.
  • Grows all Branded Sales Channels for specific territory.
  • Creates and maintains a strong sales pipeline using Salesforce.
  • Qualifies leads and works opportunities through each phase of the sales funnel.
  • Establishes relationships with new business opportunities in existing and target growth markets.
  • Prepares a detailed sales plan identifying 'good, better, best' approaches for prospects.
  • Attends tradeshows and conferences to find leads and grow opportunity pipeline.
  • Develops economic models that meet financial criteria such as EBITDA and IRR.
  • Creates and presents professional proposals for prospects.
  • Works with legal to develop and execute contracts and agreements.
  • Accurately reports sales activity and key performance metrics on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 plus years of experience in sales or sales management
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Tableau
  • Ability to travel 50 - 75% of the time, including overnight travel
