About the position

The Asset Protection Manager at Nordstrom plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the store environment. This position requires a proactive approach to building security and safety, where the manager assumes complete responsibility for all security measures within the store. The Asset Protection Manager is expected to respond to and report all security and emergency situations, which may include administering first aid, escorting hostile individuals from the premises, and assisting lost children. This role is not just about reacting to incidents; it also involves a significant educational component, where the manager partners with the store manager and other leaders to educate employees on strategies to reduce merchandise loss. In addition to these responsibilities, the Asset Protection Manager must observe customer behavior to identify indicators of both internal and external theft, such as fraudulent check or credit card activity and shoplifting. The role also includes interviewing, hiring, and coaching Asset Protection employees to ensure they meet performance standards and expectations. A critical aspect of this position is the review and approval of all reports related to Asset Protection incidents, ensuring that cases are documented properly and that the review of detention room videotapes is conducted thoroughly. The ideal candidate for this position will have a proven track record in investigative, asset protection, and security procedures. They should possess strong organizational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in computer systems, including monitoring and surveillance technologies. A comprehensive understanding of APIS and XBR is preferred, which will aid in the effective management of asset protection strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assume complete responsibility for building security and safety.
  • Respond to and report all store security and emergency situations, including administering first aid and escorting hostile individuals from the store.
  • Partner with the store manager and other store leaders to educate employees about reducing merchandise loss.
  • Observe customer behavior for indicators of internal and external theft, such as fraudulent check or credit card activity and shoplifting.
  • Interview, hire, and coach Asset Protection employees to ensure they meet performance standards and expectations.
  • Review and approve all reports to ensure proper documentation of Asset Protection incidents and cases.

Requirements

  • Proven success in investigative, asset protection, and security procedures.

  • Computer proficiency, including use of monitoring and surveillance technologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of both APIS and XBR (preferred).
