About the position

The Asset Protection Manager at Nordstrom plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the store environment. This position requires a proactive approach to building security and safety, where the manager assumes complete responsibility for all security measures within the store. The Asset Protection Manager is expected to respond to and report all security and emergency situations, which may include administering first aid, escorting hostile individuals from the premises, and assisting lost children. This role is not just about reacting to incidents; it also involves a significant educational component, where the manager partners with the store manager and other leaders to educate employees on strategies to reduce merchandise loss. In addition to these responsibilities, the Asset Protection Manager must be vigilant in observing customer behavior to identify potential indicators of theft, both internal and external. This includes monitoring for fraudulent activities such as the use of fake checks or credit cards, as well as shoplifting. The role also encompasses the hiring, coaching, and performance management of Asset Protection employees, ensuring that they meet the established performance standards and expectations. Furthermore, the manager is responsible for reviewing and approving all reports related to Asset Protection incidents, ensuring that they are documented accurately and thoroughly, including the review of videotapes from detention rooms. To excel in this position, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in investigative procedures, asset protection, and security protocols. Strong organizational skills, the ability to delegate effectively, and a knack for managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment are essential.
