The Asset Protection Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the store environment. This position requires a proactive approach to building security and safety, with the manager assuming complete responsibility for these areas. The manager will respond to and report all security and emergency situations, which may include administering first aid, escorting hostile individuals from the store, and assisting lost children. A key aspect of the role involves partnering with the store manager and other leaders to educate employees on strategies to reduce merchandise loss, thereby fostering a culture of awareness and prevention within the team. In addition to these responsibilities, the Asset Protection Manager will observe customer behavior to identify indicators of both internal and external theft, such as fraudulent check or credit card activity and shoplifting. The role also includes interviewing, hiring, and coaching Asset Protection employees to ensure they meet performance standards and expectations. The manager will review and approve all reports related to Asset Protection incidents and cases, ensuring proper documentation and review of detention room videotapes. This position demands strong time management skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and high ethical standards. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in investigative, asset protection, and security procedures, along with the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with other employees and leaders. Strong organizational, delegation, and follow-through skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in computer systems, including monitoring and surveillance technologies, is also required, with a comprehensive understanding of APIS and XBR being preferred.
