About the position

The Manager of Benefits in the Human Resources Division is responsible for comprehensive administration of employee benefit plans, including vendor management and oversight of various insurance programs. This role aims to cultivate a productive and compliant work environment while ensuring high-quality service in benefits administration. The position requires excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as the ability to lead and develop a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive benefit plan administration including vendor selection and oversight.
  • Manage all active employee group insurance plans, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability.
  • Oversee the employee wellness program and initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate annual benefits projects such as open enrollment and 1095-C preparations.
  • Provide recommendations for strategic initiatives and goals related to benefits and wellness programs.
  • Research and provide recommendations for trends in benefits administration.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to HR leadership and other departments.
  • Lead, develop, and supervise direct reports, empowering teams for success.
  • Manage operations and administration of the Benefits Department, including FMLA and Worker's Compensation.
  • Develop recommendations to improve process efficiency and implement strategic goals.
  • Handle unusual or difficult inquiries through direct employee interaction.
  • Act as a liaison to third-party vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the design and administration of benefit programs.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and management skills.
  • Experience conducting presentations and providing training on benefits.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications and PeopleSoft.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 5 to 7 years of experience in benefits administration.
  • 1 to 2 years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Professional certification in HR or benefits administration.
