Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and/or training to BI Engineers and assignment of tasks to meet business requirements.
  • Work with team members and Subject Matter Experts on identifying, designing, building, and performing analytics to provide insights to business partners.
  • Manage the recruitment, development, retention, and organization of the BI Engineering team in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and human resource policies.
  • Interact with operational and technology management regarding access, processing, reporting, and integrity of source systems and data repositories.
  • Work with the business-units and executive leadership on strategic analytics initiatives.
  • Function as the internal marketer for the platforms and be able to articulate pros/cons, evaluation criteria, and business and technical advantages of each platform.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret requirements using interviews, document analysis, business process descriptions, and business analysis.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Proactively communicate, collaborate, and facilitate knowledge transfer between internal customers and development team to analyze information needs and functional requirements.
  • Assist in the development of meaningful and measurable Key Performance Indicators.
  • Extract, analyze, and visualize large volumes of data from internal and external repositories.
  • Take ownership in process improvement and compliance.
  • Work independently with users to define concepts.
  • Coordinate with the business users who test, validate, and evaluate new reports, to identify issues in usability and adoption.
  • Serve as the conduit between the internal customer community and the software development team through which requirements may flow.
  • Assist stakeholders in extracting meaning from visualized data sets.
  • Work alongside business users and train them on how to alter, analyze and visualize data themselves.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study, or equivalent industry qualifications.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience leading Development and Support teams in a regulated environment.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience creating, editing, revising, and publishing BI production level reports and dashboards, ideally in Power BI, MicroStrategy, or Tableau.
  • Analytical and inquisitive with the ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables and interpret information furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously across all levels in an organization.
  • Extensive experience in report development, coding of SQL, M code, DAX, and other report development.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Experience with ETL tools, such as Informatica or SSRS.
  • Extensive experience with SQL Server database tools and database administration tasks.
  • R or Python knowledge is a plus.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to changing environments.
  • Will be required to work outside of Normal Business hours, primarily in the event of an emergency or implementation of new systems/upgrades which will need to be done after hours.
  • Extensive experience in the development and presentation of technical material to non-technical leaders.
  • Experience with Process Definition and Process Improvement training.
  • Experience with Document Management Systems.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing design, development, and management.
  • Extensive experience in the design and management of effective change control systems.
