About the position

The position is for a motivated statistician within Pfizer's Non-Clinical Statistics team, focusing on supporting drug discovery and development through statistical consultation and analysis. The role involves collaborating with research scientists to design and analyze preclinical experiments, ensuring statistical rigor and good scientific practices are followed, and contributing to vaccine development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with vaccine assay specialists to support vaccine clinical and diagnostic assay development, qualification, and validation.
  • Support vaccine preclinical and nonclinical development in collaboration with preclinical scientists.
  • Ensure statistical rigor and good scientific practices are followed, utilizing excellent statistical methods documented in protocols, analysis plans, and manuscripts.
  • Provide statistical expertise for regulatory submissions and ensure quality and appropriateness of submission deliverables.
  • Bring innovative statistical thinking and methods to maximize the value of aggregate clinical and preclinical data in support of scientific and vaccine development strategies.
  • Serve as a core member of scientific teams responsible for determining strategy and delivering results in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Standardize processes and methodologies, including developing statistical tools to aid scientists in standardized analyses.
  • Prepare internal and external reports, presentations, and manuscripts to improve internal decision-making and increase influence on the external environment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Statistics/Biostatistics.
  • At least 3-5 years of pharmaceutical experience.
  • Some pre-clinical and non-clinical experience is required.
  • Strong technical competence, including statistical computing.
  • Sound understanding of design of experiments, assay development, and statistical applications for preclinical research.
  • Good knowledge of drug development regulations pertinent to statistical analysis.
  • Ability to work well in a team with clear objectives and functional relationships among members.
  • Experience collaborating 1:1 with scientists and/or non-statisticians.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with research scientists.
  • Demonstrated ability to create computational tools for data visualization.
  • Statistical knowledge through coursework and/or demonstrated statistical application in general linear models, mixed models, non-linear models, experimental design, variance components, and quality control.
  • Good computational skills in R and SAS.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD in Statistics/Biostatistics or relevant discipline.
  • Assay validation experience, particularly clinical assays, is highly desired.
  • Vaccine development experience is highly desired.
