About the position

The Manager, BizOps role at Mastercard focuses on ensuring the stability and health of the company's products through effective Business Operations Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). This position is responsible for fostering developer ownership, supporting application build phases, and enforcing operational standards to create resilient products. The role emphasizes collaboration with development teams to enhance operational readiness and automate processes, ultimately contributing to a seamless digital economy.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact responsible for the overall application health, performance, and capacity.
  • Support services before they go live through system design consulting, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
  • Partner with development and product teams to establish monitoring and alerting strategies for zero downtime during deployment.
  • Ensure application scalability, performance, and resilience as the primary contact.
  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortems to optimize recovery time.
  • Automate data-driven alerts and work with development teams to establish SLOs for improved reliability.
  • Engage in the entire lifecycle of services from inception to refinement, tackling complex development and automation problems.
  • Support the application CI/CD pipeline and lead in DevOps automation and best practices.
  • Analyze ITSM activities and provide feedback to development teams on operational gaps.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Exposure to coding or scripting.
  • Strong interest in automation and new technology.
  • Experience with algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design.
  • Systematic problem-solving approach with strong communication skills.
  • Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Ability to learn and work as part of a diverse, geographically distributed team.
  • Balance between doing things right and fixing things quickly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Coding experience in C++, Java, Python, or Go.
  • Experience in a Site Reliability Engineering role or related field.
  • Background in cloud-native tooling and orchestration technologies, preferably Kubernetes.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk or Dynatrace.
  • Familiarity with Java, J2EE, WebServices (SOAP/REST), Spring/Spring Boot.
  • Experience in production support environments and ITIL processes.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Git/BitBucket, Jenkins, Maven, and Chef.
  • Experience developing and maintaining cloud solutions on Azure, GCP, or AWS.
