About the position

The Manager of Business Operations at the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) plays a crucial role in overseeing a variety of support, operational, and programmatic activities within the Division of Child Support Services (DCSS). This position is primarily teleworking, requiring flexibility in working from different locations while ensuring effective communication and management of both telework and on-site responsibilities. The role focuses on enhancing statewide performance through managerial accounting, financial analysis, and the development of comprehensive accounting programs that adhere to established standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes goals for the managerial accounting team to enhance statewide performance within the DCSS Program.
  • Analyzes financial statistics and accounting data to develop fiscal impact projections.
  • Develops and directs a comprehensive accounting program integrating GAAP, GAGAS, and statutory accounting requirements.
  • Provides professional guidance in solving complex accounting and financial problems.
  • Represents the financial interests of the State in accounting-related interactions with banks, vendors, and external auditors.
  • Manages banking activities including ACH authorizations, credit card reconciliations, and deposit transfers.
  • Oversees debit card activities, including reconciliation of transactions and correction of errors.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field with two years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Six years of related professional experience including two years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in business or related field with two years of management experience in a human service delivery program.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field with four years of management experience in a human service delivery program.
  • Associate's degree in a related field with six years of work experience and two years in a supervisory position.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
