About the position

The Manager, Business Operations at Big Ten Network is responsible for providing critical support to various departments within the organization, including production, sales, sponsorship, marketing, programming, digital, and engineering. This role involves planning and executing company events, managing ticket allotments, overseeing office services, and ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute company events, including all-staff meetings, holiday parties, and employee appreciation events.
  • Plan, organize, and execute sales/sponsorship events at B1G tentpole events, such as the B1G Football Championship Game and B1G Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments.
  • Manage BTN's ticket allotment for Big Ten football and basketball games, including procurement and distribution.
  • Negotiate and secure hotel contracts for major events, such as CFP and NCAA Final Four.
  • Supervise the procurement and tracking of BTN's inventory of company apparel and premiums.
  • Oversee day-to-day management of BTN's office services, including supplies and mail distribution.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with building management and security teams.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on employee onboarding and health/safety planning.
  • Direct supervision of Coordinator, Business Operations, and Receptionist.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in event management, business operations, operations, or office administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple large-scale projects/events simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Strong team player with a customer service mentality.
  • Basic understanding of college sports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree.
  • Experience at a sports and/or media entity.
  • Basic understanding of the Big Ten Conference.
