About the position

The Manager of Business Operations in the Department of Neurology is responsible for providing administrative and business support to achieve operational goals. This management role involves overseeing clinical administration duties, strategic planning, resource allocation, and ensuring high-quality care delivery. The position focuses on improving business operations, workflow efficiency, and financial performance while supervising staff and collaborating with leadership to implement policies and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, recommends and monitors the operating budgets for the practice and hospital operations, ensuring conformity with the budget.
  • Maintains financial/statistical performance data and produces reports to improve operational performance.
  • Ensures efficient and accurate charge entry, patient information, billing support, and co-pay collection procedures.
  • Oversees grants and contracts administration for research programs, ensuring proper allocation of revenues and expenses.
  • Develops and implements cost containment strategies.
  • Acts as a liaison between administration and business operations to resolve financial and operational issues.
  • Supervises scheduling procedures for patient treatment visits to optimize physician time and clinic space.
  • Ensures efficient scheduling and integration of medical Residents and Fellows within the practice.
  • Monitors workflow and patient satisfaction to develop programs for continual improvement.
  • Develops programs to achieve high levels of customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with other departments to achieve hospital goals.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing medical practice and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates facility management including space planning and maintenance.
  • Ensures compliance with medical record maintenance policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports the medical department Chair/Chief(s) in developing and executing business plans.
  • Fosters collaboration between physician practice and hospital business plans.
  • May develop and administer physician financial incentive programs.
  • Maintains market awareness and recommends marketing activities for assigned services.
  • Collaborates with Planning and External Affairs for marketing and public relations programs.
  • Represents medical services to internal and external groups and agencies.
  • Assists in negotiating and managing contracts for hospital services.
  • Coordinates administrative aspects of medical residency/fellow training assignments.
  • Ensures understanding of documentation requirements with medical staff and house staff.
  • Develops personnel resources through effective orientation, staffing, and training programs.
  • Hires, motivates, and supervises staff, ensuring fair administration of HR policies.
  • Ensures compliance with JCAHO standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures adequate IT resources for departmental operations.
  • Maintains collaborative team relationships to foster achievement of goals.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related area AND Five (5) years of related leadership experience OR;
  • Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related area AND Completion of an Administrative Fellowship OR;
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related area AND Seven (7) years of related leadership experience OR;
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND Eleven (11) years of related leadership experience.

  • Broad knowledge of a clinical enterprise with depth in inpatient and outpatient care.
  • Excellent foundation in healthcare systems operations and office administration.
  • Ability to assist clinical supervisors in assessing individual performance.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
