About the position

The Blue Cross NC Diversified Business Group (DBG) is dedicated to enhancing health care, affordability, access, and equity through strategic investments and partnerships with innovative health care organizations both in North Carolina and beyond. This division has a rich history of establishing forward-thinking partnerships and investments with like-minded entities to shape the future of health care. In this role, the Manager of Business Operations will play a pivotal part in optimizing and scaling the rapidly growing Diversified Business Group. The individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining management systems and practices that enhance the performance of this division and its subsidiary companies. This critical position involves leading a team of high-performing individuals tasked with refining the divisional operating model, executing performance improvement initiatives, and overseeing the collection and reporting of performance metrics for subsidiaries. Success in this role hinges on the ability to identify and implement impactful performance improvement initiatives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include maintaining and refining the operating model between Blue Cross NC and its subsidiaries, collaborating with stakeholders to identify challenges and generate solutions, managing high-profile initiatives from inception to execution, supporting budget and resource planning, defining operational goals during the annual planning process, and leading the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and risk management practices. The Manager will also be responsible for guiding a team to execute multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring clear focus and prioritization in a complex environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, govern, and refine the operating model between Blue Cross NC and subsidiary companies to drive effective joint operations.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify root cause challenges and generate solutions to improve performance of DBG and its subsidiaries.
  • Manage high-profile initiatives from developing the initial business case through execution and rollout of new processes and technologies.
  • Support budget, resource, and execution planning with DBG subsidiaries to ensure they achieve growth and deliver exceptional customer experience.
  • Define operational goals for DBG subsidiaries during the annual planning process and lead KPI collection and automation.
  • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of standard operating procedures and enterprise risk management practices.
  • Lead a team of high-performing individuals to execute on numerous initiatives in parallel, providing clear focus and prioritization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required).
  • 8+ years of experience in a related field.
  • In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in a related field.
