The Business Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing projects that align with the strategic needs of the organization, ensuring that Walden University maintains its leadership role in online education. This role requires adaptability to changing strategic and operational needs, fostering innovation, and supporting programmatic regulatory compliance and accreditation efforts. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, acting as a liaison between product operations and the colleges, thereby facilitating effective communication and collaboration across departments. In this position, the manager will be responsible for managing key projects across multiple colleges, ensuring that processes are student-centric and that business performance results are exceptional. The role includes day-to-day management of key functions, implementation of program upgrades, and enhancements. The Business Operations Manager will take a leading support role in launching new initiatives, collaborating closely with cross-college teams and departments from conception to start date. This includes planning and executing effective project plans, prioritizing and completing projects, and generating ideas for new projects. The manager will also be responsible for resolving issues that may jeopardize the objectives of the colleges and developing key stakeholder relationships to drive process improvement initiatives. Additionally, the manager will collaborate with various teams to ensure that delivery models and initiatives positively impact operational and student experience outcomes. They will partner with other academic operation units to gather feedback and ensure that results align with strategic institutional objectives. The role also involves measuring and monitoring the work of individual contributors, providing feedback, coaching, and recognition to support their career growth and development. The Business Operations Manager will complete other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of Walden University.

Responsibilities

  • Manage key projects across multiple colleges to ensure seamless, student-centric processes.
  • Provide day-to-day management to key functions and ensure implementation of program upgrades and enhancements.
  • Take a leading support role in launching new initiatives from conception to start date by collaborating with cross-college teams.
  • Lead project initiatives both individually and as part of a team, planning and executing effective project plans.
  • Facilitate the prioritization and completion of projects, including project briefings and progress status reporting.
  • Define KPIs and measure success, generating project ideas as needed.
  • Manage and resolve issues that may jeopardize the objectives of the colleges.
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships to drive process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with teams across the colleges on delivery models or initiatives impacting operational or student experience outcomes.
  • Partner with other academic operation units to gather and provide feedback to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Measure and monitor the work of individual contributors, providing feedback and coaching to support career growth.
  • Develop level appropriate reporting to ensure visibility of key accomplishments and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, Required.
  • 3 to 5 years of related business experience in operations and project management roles, Required.
  • 3 or more years in change management, project management, process improvement & implementation, Required.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills via direct management Required.
  • Intermediate skills/knowledge of Smartsheet or other project management software.
  • Advanced organizational, coordination and project management skills; strong facilitation skills.
  • Systems design understanding; business process and industry expertise.
  • Advanced skills in managing multiple, competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with ability to set priorities and deadlines.
