About the position

The Manager, Business Operations at Columbia University will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating various projects related to fertility services within the CUFC. The Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing projects that span across operations, administration, procurement, and information technology. In the operations domain, the Manager will handle facilities management, which includes overseeing equipment and structural upgrades, optimizing space utilization, maintaining necessary licensing, and ensuring that all paperwork is integrated into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. The administration aspect involves streamlining workflow changes across departments to enhance efficiency. In terms of procurement, the Manager will collaborate with relevant managers to source, evaluate, and implement systems tailored for each department's needs. Additionally, the Manager will work closely with the IT department to ensure that IT systems are reliable and efficient, facilitating the integration of outside vendors for automated processes. The role demands a comprehensive approach to project planning and execution, where the Manager will develop detailed project plans, define project scopes, and ensure timely completion of milestones. Effective team coordination with medical staff, administrative teams, and external partners is crucial for seamless project execution. Budget management is another critical responsibility, requiring the Manager to develop and monitor project budgets while ensuring adherence to financial constraints. Quality assurance protocols must be implemented to maintain high standards of patient care and service delivery, alongside risk management strategies to mitigate potential project risks. Regular reporting to senior management on project status, challenges, and solutions will also be a key component of this role. The Manager will contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and best practices in fertility services, while also assisting the Division Chief, COO, and Medical Director with planning and coordination of significant events and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans, defining scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with medical staff, administrative teams, and external partners for project execution.
  • Manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure financial compliance.
  • Implement quality assurance protocols for patient care and service delivery.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present project status reports to senior management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in fertility services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of management experience in the healthcare sector, focusing on fertility or reproductive health services.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
