About the position

The Manager, Business Operations at the University of Miami is responsible for overseeing all business and administrative functions within the Institute of the Mathematical Sciences of the Americas (IMSA). This role includes managing budgets, operations, and personnel administration, as well as providing financial analysis and strategic planning. The Manager will work closely with various levels of management to ensure effective execution of departmental plans and adherence to university policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage and evaluate business operations for the department/division, including reporting, budget support, and process improvement.
• Develop and ensure adherence to the department's annual budget according to university guidelines.
• Participate in financial analysis and planning, monitoring monthly budget variances and performance improvement opportunities.
• Advance strategic financial plans and make recommendations to senior management.
• Formulate department policies and guidelines to support the university's mission.
• Oversee the review, approval, and reporting of all expenditures and financial transactions.
• Create and manage support systems for cost-effective supplies and management information.
• Monitor contractual obligations to ensure alignment with departmental goals and budget.
• Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements for fiscal integrity and operational efficiency.
• Implement human resources actions, including hiring and performance evaluations, for department staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in business operations or management.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
• Ability to manage a budget and work within its constraints.
• Proficiency in computer software, particularly Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Workday software.
• Fluency in Spanish.
