About the position

The Manager, Business Systems is responsible for managing and maintaining the Salesforce platform and related integrations within the IT Business Systems team. This role involves specialized Salesforce administration, including configuration, automation, data management, troubleshooting, user support, and training. The position also requires analysis for system-related projects, ensuring the organization maximizes the efficiency and effectiveness of business systems. The Manager will report to the Director of Business Systems and can work in a hybrid model from the New York office or remotely within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Salesforce user support life cycle from onboarding to offboarding, tracking and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with business owners, analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to define system requirements and risks.
  • Manage vendor partners to ensure timely delivery of services aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Customize the Salesforce platform based on business needs, including configuring layouts and fields.
  • Lead and manage Salesforce projects, identifying process improvements and managing user expectations.
  • Maintain Salesforce user management, including creating user accounts and configuring permission sets.
  • Gather, develop, document, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements for Salesforce.
  • Maintain Salesforce data quality and accuracy using tools like DemandTools and Data Loader.
  • Support other Business Systems projects, including Workday and Jira.
  • Participate in sprint-based teams for task estimation and execution.
  • Perform functional and integrated testing.
  • Prepare and maintain project and technical documentation, including release notes and reports.
  • Evaluate new and existing IT Business Systems products and stay updated with product updates.
  • Ensure data security practices comply with organizational standards and monitor system audit trails.
  • Collaborate with staff to incorporate equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging principles.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience managing and maintaining a Salesforce environment, preferably using NPSP at a nonprofit organization.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Salesforce credentials preferred (e.g., Salesforce Certified Administrator).
  • Proficiency in Salesforce configuration, including objects, fields, workflows, and validation rules.
  • Strong technical skills in data management, reporting, automation, and system integrations.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce products and best practices.
  • Skilled in identifying and solving system and user issues proactively.
  • Experience working with financial and fundraising business teams preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office, specifically MS Excel, and digital project tools such as Airtable and Jira.
  • Experience with system integrations and third-party APIs.
  • Experience working with Agile project management methodologies.
  • Experience creating/executing software test cases.
  • Experience with data analysis and SQL preferred.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage projects and prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to travel to client sites as needed.
