About the position

The Manager of Career Management Events and Operations at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business is responsible for overseeing the initial public interactions at the Gleacher Center Career Services office. This role involves managing requests from MBA students and alumni, ensuring effective delivery of career services, and improving operational processes. The Manager will also handle event planning, budget management, and content maintenance for career resources, contributing to the overall success of the Career Services team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of career management issues and Career Services offerings to assess, manage, and respond to initial student and alumni requests.
  • Gain an understanding of Career Services programs and other Booth department events to respond to alumni and students' needs.
  • Continually assess new technologies and leverage existing technologies to improve the delivery of Career Services offerings.
  • Oversee daily business operations of the Career Services office to ensure maximum expense control and productivity.
  • Create and maintain coaching usage dashboards and provide monthly analysis of coaching activity to the Director and Associate Dean.
  • Assist with planning and execution of in-person and virtual events, managing logistics and evaluations.
  • Maintain accuracy of career services content for student intranet pages and alumni website.
  • Manage quarterly processes to provide new students access to career resources.
  • Serve as a resource to students and alumni, responding to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Conduct mock interviews, review resumes and cover letters, and coordinate interview-related programming.
  • Develop original content for career-related publications and assist with editing and distribution of communications materials.
  • Perform other related work as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Experience in career services, event management, or a related area.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations for improvements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with budget management and financial reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with career services technologies and platforms.
  • Previous experience in an academic or higher education environment.
