About the position

The Manager of Casualty Claims is responsible for overseeing the Casualty Claim Program at Sysco Corporation, ensuring the protection of the company's assets through effective claims management. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, monitoring claims activities across multiple jurisdictions, and implementing strategies to reduce costs associated with workers' compensation and liability claims.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of claims activities for operations in all 50 states and Canada, managing over 2,600 open claims with $280 million incurred costs.
  • Serve as the point of contact for operating sites and TPA for claims management responsibility.
  • Communicate and coordinate new policies and procedures & implementation between Sysco and TPA.
  • Monitor claim files for execution of appropriate claim handling and reserving practices while providing technical support and oversight.
  • Identify and implement workers compensation program(s) that reduce costs to employer.
  • Align with TPA in creating and developing a physician network focusing on certified occupational specialties.
  • Coordinate claims management with attorneys, insurance providers, physicians, human resources, and safety personnel; serve as liaison and effect conflict resolution between involved parties.
  • Negotiate and authorize settlements of general liability, automobile, and workers compensation claims.
  • Collaborate with supervisor training materials in accident investigations, effective communication in the claims process, compliance, and doctor/attorney issues.
  • Perform quality review of third party claims administration, integrity of reserves, and cost containment practices.
  • Provide support with Corporate EHS team and Risk management team to align strategies and goals to minimize incidents and costs.
  • Generate and analyze claims loss runs and reports to identify and communicate trends.
  • Communicate information, status of claims, claims costs as needed to operating sites.
  • Serve as a corporate claims representative on all initial serious claims calls and reviews.
  • Rotation on hotline duty for serious accident calls.
  • Document file activity in the Origami system.
  • Partner with operating sites HR managers to ensure timely and appropriate Return to Work for associates.
  • Monitor documents received through Sysco's registered service agent, CSC, and distribute to appropriate parties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Business Administration Degree preferred.
  • Five years' claim adjusting experience with an insurance company or TPA dealing with high volume multi-jurisdictional workers' compensation, general liability, and auto liability claims.
  • Proficient in use of Risk Management Information Systems.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • ARM, CPCU, AIC preferred but not required.
