About the position

As a mid-senior level position, you will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the identified unit, ensuring that we adhere to community standards and maintain the highest degree of quality care at all times. You will work closely with the Director of Clinical Services to manage the clinical services department, assessing the needs of residents and implementing comprehensive care plans accordingly. Your role will involve consulting with residents' physicians, periodically reviewing and updating care plans, and working with interdisciplinary team members to develop discharge plans for residents. In this position, you will conduct resident rounds to assess nursing care, ensure a safe and comfortable environment, and assist the Charge Nurse with resident care needs. You will also be responsible for communicating effectively with residents, families, physicians, and staff, and participating in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures governing clinical operations. Your leadership will extend to participating in associate evaluations and disciplinary actions as required, ensuring proper transitions of nursing reports, and following up on any medication errors. You will be expected to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in assigned work areas, monitor supplies, and ensure compliance with regulations regarding medication storage. Regular attendance at staff meetings and participation in continuing education programs will be essential to your role. Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the identified unit.
  • Adhere to community standards and maintain the highest degree of quality care at all times.
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Services in managing the day-to-day operations of the clinical services department.
  • Assess the needs and development of residents and implement comprehensive care plans accordingly.
  • Consult with residents' physician in planning resident care.
  • Periodically review and update comprehensive care plans, ensuring they are interdisciplinary and updated by the Charge Nurse as changes occur.
  • Work with interdisciplinary team members in developing a discharge plan for individual residents.
  • Conduct resident rounds to assess and/or supervise nursing care, assess condition of residents, and ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
  • Assist Charge Nurse with resident care needs and audits documentation.
  • Communicate and act as a liaison between residents, family, physician, and staff.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining policy and procedures that govern the clinical services day-to-day operations.
  • Make written and verbal recommendations to the Director of Clinical Services concerning the operations of the nursing department.
  • Participate in associate evaluations and associate disciplinary action as required.
  • Ensure proper transition of nursing reports upon starting and ending shift duty hours.
  • Complete follow-up investigations and provide, or arrange for, follow-up education related to any medication errors as needed.
  • Report occupational exposure to blood, bodily fluid, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with community policy.
  • Ensure assigned work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Monitor supplies and place orders as needed.
  • Ensure medication room and medication cart are locked according to regulations.
  • Follow up on any pharmacy recommendations to assure response and implementation of order changes.
  • Attend regularly conducted staff meetings and participate in continuing education in-service programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
  • Minimum of one to three years of experience in nursing service administration.
  • One year of management experience preferred.
  • Additional education or experience in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing is preferred.
  • Current RN state nursing certification in good standing with no actions on nursing license.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
