About the position

The Manager of Commercial Technologies Software Engineering at Cardinal Health plays a crucial role in managing the enterprise's portfolio of commercial technologies, aimed at maximizing business value and enhancing customer experience. This position is responsible for creating strategies for the technology portfolio and developing innovative solutions in collaboration with business leaders. The role involves developing back-end solutions and capabilities while also improving the front-end experience for users. In this capacity, the Manager will oversee the development of design options and process improvements, ensuring that the solutions align with business needs. The job family is tasked with managing engineering projects and planning for commercial technologies, working closely with product managers to establish clear objectives. Additionally, the role includes assessing product systems, identifying opportunities for enhancements, and applying engineering principles to develop effective solutions. The Manager may be required to manage multiple teams, including Application Development and Infrastructure support, ensuring that all technical configurations, designs, and implementations are executed effectively. This position also involves accountability for the entire Solution Delivery Process (SDP), leading steering committee meetings, and ensuring that all IT components are completed on time and within budget. The Manager will act as the primary contact for clients and IT executives, championing the resolution of any issues that arise and facilitating communication between various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple teams including Application Development and Infrastructure support.
  • Oversee the technical configuration, design, administration, development, implementation, and support of application and information frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Application Development & Maintenance teams to identify enhancements for platforms.
  • Develop solutions including applications, technology, processes, estimates, resources, and requirements, ensuring a successful transition to support teams.
  • Align development estimates with IT teams to obtain commitment.
  • Accountable for all phases of the Solution Delivery Process (SDP).
  • Lead steering committee and gate meetings for IT projects.
  • Ensure all IT components are completed on time and on budget for the entire solution.
  • Communicate with clients and IT partners, resolving issues and clearing roadblocks as needed.
  • Act as the primary contact for clients, customers, and IT executives.
  • Ensure successful execution, implementation, warranty support, and transition of IT deliverables.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner(s) and Development Team(s) to influence decision-making that impacts work processes and customer outcomes.

Requirements

  • 8-12 years of experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of multiple Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies including Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
