The Community Engagement and Outreach Manager plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the Museum and the diverse communities it serves. This position is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with local organizations and community groups, ensuring that the Museum's mission of providing inclusive, high-quality science learning opportunities is realized. The Manager will actively cultivate partnerships that address the unique needs of these external groups, thereby enhancing the Museum's outreach and engagement efforts. In this role, the Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 30-50 community partnerships, focusing on equitable access to science education. This involves collaborating with the Research and Evaluation team to conduct 5-10 research initiatives annually, measuring the impact of programs and ensuring they align with community needs. The Manager will also assist in planning and marketing 6-8 weekend events each year that celebrate diverse cultural experiences, thereby promoting inclusivity within the Museum. A significant aspect of this position is the development of bilingual programs, with a target of creating 20-25 bilingual products annually in collaboration with the MOS en Español team. The Manager will also coordinate the use of the Museum's community space by 25-40 outside organizations, ensuring smooth integration into Museum activities. Additionally, the Manager will work with internal teams to develop strategies that enhance visitor engagement and access, supporting 2-4 spotlight initiatives each year. Key deliverables include maintaining an active community presence, developing systems for tracking community engagement, facilitating cross-departmental collaboration, and ensuring that diverse communities are integrated into Heritage Month events. The Manager will also lead the design and implementation of bilingual offerings and oversee the efficient operation of the Museum's community space, ensuring responsiveness to external groups' needs. Finally, the Manager will create channels for the Museum to listen to and learn from communities that have been historically excluded from full participation in science, thereby creating more relevant educational experiences.
