About the position

The Manager of Construction & Engineering at AT&T is responsible for supervising and managing teams of technicians engaged in daily construction and engineering activities. This role involves overseeing work assignments, managing technician schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The manager will also provide training, feedback, and performance evaluations to technicians, while addressing grievances and promoting a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage crews of technicians responsible for construction and engineering activities.
  • Lead regular huddles to discuss and direct assignments.
  • Oversee the flow and distribution of inventory and supplies.
  • Work with dispatch to apportion work orders among crew members.
  • Ensure proper allocation of work and maintain technician work schedules.
  • Manage attendance and maintain records for supervising technicians.
  • Identify potential issues and missed customer service opportunities from previous work.
  • Provide feedback, training, and coaching to technicians.
  • Ensure crews handle hardware with care and proper procedures.
  • Manage tool budgeting and evaluate technician performance.
  • Recommend promotions for high-performing technicians and discipline underperformers.
  • Interview and assess potential hires and transfers.
  • Handle technician grievances in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Identify and remove roadblocks to safe and efficient performance.
  • Conduct in-field safety and quality inspections.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent related network experience; technical degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of network-related technical experience.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
