About the position

The Controls Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing a large department focused on the design, build, maintenance, and operational support of Process and Pipeline Control Systems and Terminal Automation systems. This role is critical for ensuring the effective monitoring, controlling, and optimizing of hazardous liquids and gas operations, which are essential for the company's mission. The manager will ensure the performance, compliance, and safety of these control systems while fostering a supportive and innovative work environment for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a large department of analysts, specialists, and engineers in the design and maintenance of control systems.
  • Ensure the overall performance of control systems used by operations personnel.
  • Oversee the architecture, operational status, functional capabilities, and cyber security of control systems.
  • Review and approve engineering standards and procedures related to control systems.
  • Manage capital and expense budgets, including allocation to operations as necessary.
  • Identify and select control system vendors to meet operational needs.
  • Participate in industry organizations to promote safer and more efficient operations of control systems.
  • Foster a creative and engaging work environment for team development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 10 years of experience managing large scale liquids and gas control systems.
  • Knowledge of process industry regulations regarding safe operations.
  • Knowledge of pipeline industry regulations related to control center support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with operations, vendors, and senior management.
  • Ability to manage and encourage a team environment under stress.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with real-time process historical data management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in the energy sector.
