About the position

The Manager, Controls Engineering - Engineering & Technical Services Organization (TSO) is responsible for providing project support within the plant environment, leading controls engineering projects, establishing standards and best practices, and engaging with vendors for technology adoption. This role also involves supporting the automation landscape and acting as an expert in key technologies while ensuring compliance with national regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage controls engineering projects within the JMS network of plants.
  • Work closely with engineering and operations leaders to transition projects through CQV.
  • Provide power and controls support on capital initiatives when applicable.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain engineering standards and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with national regulations (NFPA 70, NFPA 70s, NFPA 79, NEC, OSHA 1910).
  • Proactively engage with vendors to resolve issues and explore new technologies.
  • Provide C&IS support from a corporate side to operations.
  • Support MES and IS Operations when priorities align.
  • Support the automation landscape and drive targeted improvements.
  • Identify and reapply successful automation solutions across different areas of a plant.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for key technologies.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging operational technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of relevant controls experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of machine and/or process control hardware, instrumentation, and software including Allen Bradley PLC and Rockwell FactoryTalk platforms.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA and OSHA guidelines related to electrical equipment and practices.
  • Experience learning and integrating new technologies.
  • Experience leading the installation of equipment.
  • Capital and/or project management experience.
  • Understanding of plant systems software (Proficy, Project Management, eAM, etc.).
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • An Electrical Engineering degree.
  • FANUC robot and/or automation experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical experience in food manufacturing.
