About the position

The Manager, Core Lab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center leads clinical laboratory sections and laboratory support functions within the Diagnostic Laboratories. This role is pivotal in integrating clinical activities to optimize patient care, defining clinical performance standards, and managing staff and budgets. The position requires collaboration with the lab leadership team to monitor performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and coordinates programs and actions within areas of responsibility; has overall fiscal accountability for sections(s).
• Develops work goals and objectives based on interpretation of organization plans and forecasts; plans to achieve goals or establish priorities through appropriate budgeting and program development.
• Monitors payroll reports for overtime and FlexPTO as well as conducts performance appraisals.
• Defines clinical performance standards and quality measures, monitors actual performance, and initiates corrective actions when necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• 7 years of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification or Medical Laboratory Technologist Tennessee license.
• Eligibility to obtain Medical Technologist license within 120 days if not currently licensed.
• Eligibility to obtain Medical Laboratory Supervisor license within 6 months of start date if not currently licensed.

Nice-to-haves

• Active Medical Laboratory Technologist - Supervisor licensure in the state of Tennessee (TN).
• Experience in a CLIA-certified, CAP accredited laboratory.
• Minimum of at least 5 years of leadership experience.
