About the position

The position involves leading a team of engineering professionals responsible for the planning, deployment, organization, and management of IP and Optical Transport Systems within the Core Network Engineering Team at Comcast. The role focuses on technology innovation to support daily operations, enhance team performance, and meet customer requirements while improving existing applications and implementing new process efficiencies. The manager will also guide and develop team members, ensuring departmental efficiency and budget adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineering professionals in the planning and management of IP and Optical Transport Systems.
  • Analyze complex business needs through interaction with senior leadership and external customers.
  • Create new technical solutions to enhance process efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Evaluate new technologies for applicability and impact on operational goals.
  • Develop processes and procedures to drive departmental efficiencies.
  • Forecast staffing requirements and prepare systems engineering plans and budgets.
  • Ensure consistent attendance and availability for after-hours coverage as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in network engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of IP Networking and Optical Transport Systems.
  • Proven experience in engineering or technical leadership.
  • Ability to lead through change and collaborate with partner teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on customer experience.
