About the position

This position is part of the Corporate Accounting team based in Chicago, responsible for overseeing accounting staff, managing closing procedures, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. The role involves analyzing complex transactions, developing accounting policies, and participating in various accounting projects, all while reporting to the Director of Corporate Accounting & Financial Reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the Corporate Accounting seniors and staff in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Prepare/review/approve journal entries and support for recurring, non-recurring and/or technically complex accounting transactions
  • Facilitate and complete monthly, quarterly and annual closing procedures
  • Manage consolidation processes in consolidation software
  • Review and/or prepare account reconciliations and complete analytical reviews of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure the accuracy and validity of transactions
  • Support external auditors' year-end audits
  • Participate in the continuous development and strengthening of internal controls
  • Liaise with corporate departments with accounting for costs appropriately, including reviewing POs and invoices in the procure to pay system
  • Lead/participate in special projects in the development and advancement of the Corporate Accounting department
  • Assist with the review and preparation of establishing, implementing and documenting policies and procedures
  • Review and/or prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and complete supporting analysis and reports
  • Utilize computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analyses and reporting purposes
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as they arise

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA certification required
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • High level of organization and ability to manage to deadlines
  • Strong technical accounting skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to complete tasks with high level of accuracy
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and highly skilled in Microsoft Excel - macros, v-lookups, and pivot tables
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to work with all levels of management and employees; ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to work from our Chicago Corporate Headquarters on a hybrid-remote work schedule (M/F optional work from home and T/W/TH in-office)

  • Combination of public accounting and industry accounting
  • Experience with SUN accounting general ledger and OneStream consolidation software
