As a key member of the Finance Team within the Finance Division at American Airlines, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day functions of the Company's fixed asset accounting process. This role is crucial in ensuring the integrity and compliance of financial reporting, as well as providing guidance on accounting issues to various business groups within the company. You will oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual supporting schedules for responsible accounting functions, ensuring that all activities align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes Oxley compliance. In this position, you will review journal vouchers, monthly support schedules, and general ledger account reconciliations, supervising the day-to-day activities associated with your areas of responsibility. You will also research new or revised accounting requirements and collaborate with peers to incorporate these changes into schedules, reports, and monthly procedures. Your role will involve coordinating activities to ensure that internal and external auditor requests are completed efficiently. Additionally, you will evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes, procedures, and accounting assumptions on an ongoing basis, recommending and assisting in process improvements to enhance the control environment and optimize resource utilization. You will develop and maintain documentation for business and system processes related to your assigned responsibilities and represent the department in meetings, communicating effectively with both internal and external customers. This position may also involve performing a variety of other functions and ad-hoc projects as assigned to support the department's and company's goals and objectives.
