About the position

The Facilities Manager - Critical Environments is responsible for overseeing facilities management within data centers, ensuring the continuous operation of critical systems and services. This role involves managing a team of Facilities Supervisors and Operating Engineers, coordinating service delivery, and maintaining stakeholder satisfaction. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to develop and implement maintenance plans, safety programs, and compliance documentation, all while fostering team development and managing contractor activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure maintenance and continuous operation of all data center systems including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, cabling, and digital systems.
  • Utilize staff and contract with outside vendors as necessary for service delivery.
  • Develop, review, and approve Critical Environment work efforts and manage the critical environments team.
  • Identify maintenance objectives and incorporate them into a documented maintenance plan.
  • Identify safety hazards and implement remediation to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Administer and manage safety training programs and ensure compliance with regulatory laws.
  • Develop CAPEX and OPEX plans for infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
  • Provide technical input and support for facility projects and modifications.
  • Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the data center.
  • Oversee contractor activities within the data center and ensure they are informed about critical functions.
  • Prepare and report on KPIs to track team performance and ensure understanding of Data Center Work Rules.
  • Execute staff succession and growth plans, including career development for direct reports.

Requirements

  • 5 years of data center experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 7-10 years of engineering experience or equivalent industry experience
  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience
  • Moderate knowledge of manual trades such as carpentry and electromechanical repair
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and technical documents
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
