About the position

The Cultivation Manager (Clone/Veg) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the vegetation and propagation operations within the assigned facility. This role focuses on driving the department to achieve business goals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a collaborative work environment to maximize productivity and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operational management and business activities of the vegetation and propagation department.
• Drive the department to achieve and surpass goals and objectives, maximizing output and minimizing costs.
• Implement and enforce SOPs, methods, and policies to advance cultivation and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor environmental data points and HVAC systems to prevent failures and crop loss.
• Coordinate care for all mother plants, including selection, watering, trimming, and disposal.
• Utilize propagation techniques to maximize cuttings from each mother plant.
• Oversee the growth of plants from cuttings through germination.
• Supervise assistant managers in developing and executing the propagation-to-vegetation schedule.
• Assist facility leadership in developing and executing the facility production schedule.
• Set and maintain inventory levels based on cultivation schedules and sales forecasts.
• Partner with Data Analytics to collect grow and environmental data for future techniques.
• Utilize Lean Manufacturing tactics to improve product quality and operational effectiveness.
• Manage department budgets and prepare reports for Cultivation leadership.
• Utilize KPIs to monitor and optimize company operations performance.
• Partner with Compliance to meet regulatory standards for documentation and inventory counts.
• Lead the training and development of Assistant Cultivation Managers and Clone/Veg Associates.
• Partner with Human Resources to meet hiring needs and conduct performance reviews.
• Utilize internal tracking systems to ensure consistent products and high-quality control.
• Create an environment that focuses on fulfilling the company's mission, vision, and values.
• Engage all associates in a manner that supports company strategy and retention.
• Establish credibility as a collaborative developer of solutions to business challenges.
• Stay updated on new regulations and participate in educational opportunities.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Minimum five (5) years' experience in a commercial cultivation facility.
• Three (3) years' experience in management/leadership roles.
• Advanced knowledge of cannabis cultivation including organic living soil, permaculture, and horticulture.
• Strategic visionary with sound technical skills and analytical ability.
• Ability to deliver results timely in a pressure-filled environment.
• Must be 21 years of age or older and able to register with the state's cannabis commission.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in plant science, biology, agricultural sciences, or equivalent area of study preferred.
• 4 years of management/supervisory experience preferred.
• Operations or performance improvement skill sets preferred.
• Previous experience in a highly regulated manufacturing, packaging, and/or warehouse environment is a plus.
