The Manager of Data Center Critical Facilities is responsible for ensuring the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems within the data center environment. This includes overseeing critical systems such as fire/life safety, mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, controls), electrical systems (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, switchgear), cabling (data and voice, broadband), and lighting and temperature control systems. The role also encompasses managing critical environments, light construction tasks (such as painting, door installations, and lock maintenance), digital systems (including fire alarms, duress systems, card access, radionics, CCTV), and Audio/Visual services. The manager will utilize both staff and external contractors as necessary to ensure optimal operation and maintenance of these systems. In this position, the manager will develop, review, and approve work efforts related to critical environments, ensuring that all maintenance objectives are documented and incorporated into a comprehensive plan that includes preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance procedures. Safety is a paramount concern; therefore, the manager will identify safety hazards within the building and implement remediation strategies to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and occupants. This includes administering a safety training program and ensuring compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines related to the building's infrastructure. The manager will also be responsible for alerting upper management of any discrepancies within the building and will develop a Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditure (OPEX) plan that includes infrastructure upgrades, maintenance, repairs, critical spare parts, safety equipment, and building modifications to maintain the facility's capabilities. Additionally, the role involves providing technical input and support for facility projects and modifications, including construction support, commissioning, and final acceptance. Maintaining up-to-date infrastructure and compliance documentation is crucial, including building drawings and one-line schematics, as well as documentation required for regulatory compliance with federal, state, or local laws. The manager will oversee contractor activities within the building, ensuring they are well-informed about the building's critical functions and the work they are to perform. The manager will also prepare and report on Critical Performance Indicators (CPIs) to track team performance and ensure that the Data Center Work Rules are well understood by all staff, engineers, tenants, and contractors involved in the building's critical infrastructure. Overall, this role requires strong leadership in facility services, staff development, and strategic planning to ensure the success of the critical facilities team.
