About the position

The Manager, Data Engineer is primarily responsible for leading our data engineering team. This role is pivotal in managing project timelines, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring alignment with our business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and project management skills along with a deep understanding of data engineering principles and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage a team of data engineers, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity.
  • Manage project timelines, scope, estimate, and schedule project work.
  • Design and architect scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions.
  • Build and maintain enterprise data products including data ingestion, storage, organization, and cloud data products.
  • Automate and manage infrastructure and deployments to ensure reliability and scalability through DevOps practices.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with relevant regulations through effective data governance practices.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional agile teams that include Software Engineers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Data Analysts, DevOps Engineers, and Product Owners.
  • Provide technology leadership to development teams and other leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data engineering with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in AWS services (S3, SageMaker, Redshift, EMR), Azure, and Databricks.
  • Experience in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
  • Proficiency in SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and SQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Data Engineering or Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Familiarity with Git.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of data governance and security best practices in AWS.
