About the position

The Manager of Data Engineering (Lead Data Engineer) role is a key position within the Finance & Accounting department, specifically under the Decision Support Tower. This role focuses on leading the development of data pipelines and managing data integration efforts to support advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, cloud technologies, and data governance, and will be responsible for ensuring data accessibility and quality for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, maintain, and troubleshoot the organization's data architecture.
  • Lead the implementation strategy to make data accessible for evaluation and performance improvement.
  • Oversee the development, design, and integration of data engineering projects.
  • Manage the cloud-based data warehouse and ensure data governance and quality measures are in place.
  • Lead project efforts, conduct proof of concept (POC) analysis, and recommend analytic reporting tools.
  • Guide the team in organizing data for reporting, analytics, and data mining.
  • Conduct code development and reviews using SQL, Google BigQuery SQL, Python, R, and VS Code.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in data transformation programs and data landscapes.
  • Strong understanding of data life cycle stages including collection, transformation, analysis, and secure storage.
  • Advanced experience in data environments to ensure scalability for throughput, real-time predictions, and compliance.
  • 2-4 years of experience in developing tactical and strategic solutions for organizational goals.
  • Strong experience in cloud services platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform, Google BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Gemini AI.
  • Proficiency in SQL, BigQuery SQL, Python, and R.
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1-2 years of management experience leading teams and projects.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and visualization tools such as Power BI, SAS, Looker, and Alteryx.
  • Understanding of machine learning algorithms.
