The Manager Data Engineering provides thought leadership to deliver creative and efficient Data solutions. This role leads the development of strategic Data plans for products and/or initiatives. The Manager is responsible for leading their resources to develop high-level Data delivery plans based on a set of objectives, including scope, delivery and technical approaches, risk, assumptions, staffing plans, other costs, and ongoing operational plans. Additionally, the Manager oversees client, customer, and vendor relations to ensure that service expectations are met or exceeded, while also coaching and mentoring employees. This role will be responsible for the delivery of Data solutions, Data warehouse/lakehouse, analytics, and reporting solutions, and will manage a team of Data Engineers. The Manager will work independently and collaboratively with teams to create technical documentation, database design, and data flow architecture. They will closely collaborate with technology and data partners, evaluate architecture processes, data models, and patterns to provide recommendations for improving standards. The Manager will participate in code reviews, ensure timely code merges and successful deployments, enforce and improve Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CICD) methodologies, manage story assignments by assessing the task, technology, and skills of team members, and oversee knowledge sharing and Agile internal demo sessions. In terms of strategy, the Manager will partner with corporate functional leaders to create and execute a technology strategy that enhances overall business capabilities. They will stay abreast of technology industry trends and best practices, continuously transforming the organization to increase efficiencies and reduce overall expenses. The Manager will also partner with the innovation team to test and learn emerging technology and its viable applicability to enhance corporate business capabilities. Delivery planning and execution will involve creating, prioritizing, planning, and executing portfolio/product roadmaps or initiatives through collaboration with Technology and appropriate business partners, reducing time to market by utilizing Agile methodologies, and surfacing issues and risks for resolution. The Manager will provide insights on risks based on broad experience and ensure that employees deliver new technology solutions and capabilities in accordance with the roadmap, meeting established objectives and expectations of business partners and/or colleagues. In terms of technology, operational, and risk control, the Manager will cultivate good system management disciplines, ensuring clearly defined and documented roles and responsibilities, documented phase processes, and detailed planning for system deployment. They will define and report metrics based on overall business objectives, ensuring compliance and control activities support technology and enterprise business objectives and align with executive risk tolerances and expectations. The Manager will drive a continuous improvement and compliant culture through documented policies, procedures, and architecture. Leadership responsibilities include managing and developing the team, cultivating a spirit of one team with shared goals and objectives, selecting, motivating, and retaining high-performing talent, and providing ongoing feedback to maximize overall performance.
