About the position

The Data Manager of Data Engineering will work in a hands-on and supportive role within the Technology and Data Department at Publicis Health Media (PHM). This team is responsible for processing and maintaining all data that flows into the organization, acting as the primary contact for data needs from healthcare provider (HCP) publishers. The role involves collaboration with internal and external partners, as well as industry vendors, to monitor data transfers, perform data quality assurance (QA), and maintain comprehensive documentation. The Data Manager will also support the Vice President of Data Engineering in enforcing enterprise-wide data processes and protocols. This position is hybrid, requiring three days in the office each week, and is open to candidates willing to work from the Philadelphia, Chicago, or New York offices. The Data Manager will report directly to the Director of Data Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of data projects across different clients in the agency.
  • Collaborate with various teams such as Media Tech, BI, Media, Strategy, Investments, and Tech & Data.
  • Utilize the agency warehouse and ETL solutions to oversee data transfers.
  • Monetize data flow automation to retrieve, transform, and load data.
  • Manage data responsibilities including ETL/data feed management and metadata management.
  • Review processes to ensure data stability, security, and compliance.
  • Present issues, trends, and recommendations to internal and external teams.
  • Provide solutions for data needs and issue resolutions with the Data Engineering, Technology and Data, and BI teams.
  • Maintain best practices for handling, storing, and using data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of SQL experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of ETL experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience analyzing data sets.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau and Datorama.
  • Proficiency in Excel, capable of performing complex functions.
  • Experience with database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Experience tracking and resolving BI and database-related incidents and requests.
  • Technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex updates and resolutions in user-friendly language.
  • Experience with large datasets and web/digital marketing data is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Databricks, AWS, and Azure.
