About the position

Manager, Data Engineering for Amplifi Loyalty Solutions, LLC, Naperville, IL. Oversee the activity of the data engineering team. Manage team capacity, talent, performance, learning and growth. Serve as primary point of contact for recruiting, election, and onboarding of new Data Engineers. Share technical and organizational knowledge to mentor Amplifi staff members. Translate high level business requirements to well written executable stories. Appreciates the importance of proper Acceptance Criteria and the ability to prioritize sprint work to ensure high quality consistent velocity. Build high performing teams by focusing on the fundamentals of delivery supported by a foundation of test-driven development. Deliver CLEAN, DRY, SOLID solutions and is able to elicit the same in the Data Engineer team. Conduct regular peer code reviews to ensure quality and compliance following best practices in the industry. Provide analysis and recommendations to business stakeholders to support decision-making. Work in cross-disciplinary teams to understand client needs and ingest rich data sources. Design and develop quality process and procedures to ensure effective availability, definition, and integrity of data assets. Utilize Big Data technologies in AWS. Develop and present professional quality presentations and demonstrations to both engineering and business stakeholders on strategy, design, and project progress. Participate in process for pursuing innovations, target solutions, and extendable platforms for ampliFI's products. Position is based out of and reports to Amplifi's HQ in Naperville, IL, but allows for the option to telecommute from a home office outside of IL (except the following states from which remote work is not an option for tax reasons: AL, AK, AR, CA, CT, DE, HI, ID, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MS, NV, NM, ND, OK, OR, RI, SD, VT, WA, WV, and WY).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related degree.
  • 5 years of progressive post baccalaureate experience as a data engineer working with big data and multiple programming languages and technologies.
  • 5 years of experience as a technical Lead or Manager or equivalent demonstrated proficiency.
  • 5 years of experience managing relationships within the Technology team and internal stakeholders and interfacing effectively with clients.
  • 5 years of experience communicating complex technical concepts succinctly to non-technical colleagues and managing interdependencies between all facets of a project.
  • 5 years of experience driving and initiating projects to completion with minimal guidance.
  • 5 years of experience working with complex, mature and sophisticated design and analysis technologies and solutions.
  • 5 years of experience ingesting, transforming, engineering, and visualizing data, both for data and analytics solutions.
  • 5 years of experience with large-scale, AWS big data methods such as EC2, S3, Glue, Kinesis, DynamoDB, and Redshift.
  • 5 years of experience working in Python programming Language.
  • 5 years of experience working in Unix/Linux environment, having experience with source code management systems like GIT.
  • 5 years of experience working with version control, testing, QA; and agile development methodologies.
  • 3 years of experience with API development design and implementation strategies.
