Enterprise Data Governance & Platforms (EDGP) is part of the larger Enterprise Digital and Data Solutions (EDDS) organization. EDGP improves the customer experience and drives business growth through robust enterprise-wide data policies and governance and enabling a data-driven culture, while developing digital and data platforms that provide insightful customer relationships and allow users to leverage enterprise-wide data capabilities. The Manager Enterprise Data Governance role will support the data activation process of bringing critical data under governance across business units at American Express, as outlined in the organization's Enterprise Data Governance Policy. This role will also provide support in training, communications, and change management related to data governance across the enterprise. Execution of data activation activities and processes related to business metadata acquisition, mappings, and curation, to bring data under governance. Identify connection points and drive mapping conversations for data privacy, data quality, and data stewardship risks and controls. Contributing to development and maintenance of best practices, procedures, and methodologies to assist in the implementation of Data Governance policy and standards. Communicating metadata management requirements to federated data office teams to efficiently bring data under governance. Leading the training of federated data office teams on metadata documentation, business glossary curation, and data catalog maintenance. Supporting the development of foundational data catalog capabilities by providing requirements to teams who own data governance tools. Establish a culture of data governance by developing partnerships with data stewards and data custodians to promote data governance best practice.
