About the position

The Manager, Data Governance at Octapharma Plasma is responsible for establishing and administering an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap, focusing on improving data quality and protecting sensitive information assets. This role involves driving data strategy implementation, serving as a liaison between business and technology, and ensuring compliance with data-related policies and standards. The position requires strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of data governance principles, with a commitment to enhancing the company's data capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and administer an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap.
  • Improve the quality and manage the protection of sensitive data and information assets.
  • Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance framework focused on data quality and protection.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure accountability for information assets.
  • Drive data strategy implementation to align business requirements with data architecture.
  • Serve as a liaison between business, functional areas, and technology for data-related requirements.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems and owners.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for governance, data quality, and protection issues.
  • Respond to regulatory protection requirements and support strategic departmental needs.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality and protection standards across the enterprise.
  • Define performance indicators and quality metrics to ensure compliance with data policies and standards.
  • Liaise with Senior Management to achieve objectives and resolve issues related to data governance.
  • Provide progress reports to Senior Management and oversee updates to the Data Governance Roadmap.
  • Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline expenses.
  • Identify new business opportunities related to information assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in information management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in data modeling and data architecture.
  • 3-5 years in a leadership or management role with strong understanding of data architecture and governance principles.
  • Extensive experience in data warehousing, BI, and designing data products.
  • Proficiency in conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional modeling.
  • Strong experience in data governance and management using various tools.
  • Solid background in ontology, taxonomy, semantics, and computational linguistics.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms and analytical data stores.
  • High proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and design.
  • Proficiency with reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in team management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of risk data architecture and emerging industry trends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Strong consulting skills with experience in change management and communication.
