About the position

The Manager, Data Science at ICON plc is responsible for leading the development and implementation of advanced analytics projects within the healthcare data industry. This role involves leveraging machine learning and data science to extract insights that inform decision-making for clients in clinical research. The position requires effective leadership to manage a team of data scientists and analysts, ensuring the quality and effectiveness of projects while fostering a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Leading the development and implementation of data science projects to support clinical trial design, execution, and analysis.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify key business challenges and translate them into data science solutions.
• Overseeing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of complex datasets to derive actionable insights.
• Managing a team of data scientists and analysts, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Staying current with industry trends and advancements in data science to ensure the use of best practices and innovative techniques.

Requirements

• Degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or a related field; advanced degree is preferred.
• Significant experience in data science, analytics, or a related role within a clinical research or healthcare setting, including at least 2 years managing a team of data scientists.
• Significant experience using AI and Machine Learning.
• Strong proficiency in Python and data visualization tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
