About the position

As a Manager in the Day Warehouse at US Foods, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of warehouse operations. Your primary responsibility will be to lead with a safety mindset, ensuring that every associate remains injury-free at all times. You will champion safety procedures, processes, and training to foster a safety-first culture within the warehouse. This involves overseeing and developing warehouse associates through one-on-one coaching, training on policies and procedures, and assisting in problem resolution when necessary. You will also be responsible for discussing associate performance with Senior Warehouse Managers and creating plans to address any performance gaps. In addition to safety, you will create a cohesive organization by maintaining open lines of communication and directing the workforce to ensure efficient workflow. Your role will involve supervising the work and productivity of associates within the warehouse department, driving engagement and retention, and creating a culture that embodies the values of US Foods. You will participate in building high-performing teams by interviewing and hiring warehouse personnel, reviewing performance, coaching on productivity and safety targets, and delivering disciplinary actions when required. You will lead and direct associates to achieve accurate order staging and loading onto trucks, oversee the preparation of the warehouse for shipping or receiving on the next shift, and monitor operational information to ensure the shift meets productivity rates. Additionally, you will ensure that products are stocked appropriately according to food safety and FIFO processes, monitor replenishment activity, and maintain the physical condition and safety of the warehouse and its equipment. Regular inspections for safety hazards will be part of your duties, and you will work with the operations management team to identify sources of inventory shrink and develop action plans to address them. Overall, your leadership will be crucial in maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and operational efficiency in the warehouse.

  • Regularly inspect the facility for safety hazards and report them as needed.
  • Work with operations management to identify inventory shrink sources and develop action plans.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in warehouse distribution required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.
  • Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
