The Manager, Digital Post Production position at Emerson College is a pivotal role that reports directly to the Director of Post Production Facilities. This position is responsible for managing the digital post-production facilities on campus, ensuring that all hardware, software, and suggested workflows are current and capable of supporting robust and academically impressive post-production classes. The role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to provide support to both students and faculty who are working with Non-Linear Editing (NLE) software. In this role, the manager will oversee the operation and maintenance of the Digital Post Production facilities that support the Visual and Media Arts (VMA) curriculum. This includes providing advanced technical support for students and faculty across all levels of VMA coursework, addressing workflow-related and technical inquiries as they arise. The manager will also communicate with faculty to understand the curriculum's needs, researching and implementing new hardware, software, and workflows to meet these requirements. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for troubleshooting technical problems and user errors in various software applications, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Avid Media Composer. The position also involves managing hardware in the Mac Pro labs and suites, which includes troubleshooting equipment such as Blackmagic UltraStudio hardware, broadcast monitors, speakers, audio equipment, Wacom tablets, and other peripherals. The manager will assist students and faculty in the Emerging Media Lab when the EML manager is unavailable, hire and train a team of student employees, and oversee their daily operations to support classes, equipment checkouts, and basic troubleshooting measures. Furthermore, the manager will maintain and update the Post Production website, create new articles based on frequently asked questions, and produce video tutorials to enhance existing resources. Coordination of screenings for MFA and BA thesis projects, BA Capstone projects, and other VMA courses will also be part of the responsibilities, serving as a liaison between all parties involved in these events.
