About the position

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing floor operations and processes within a large distribution facility, ensuring that associates work accurately, efficiently, and safely. This role involves managing the flow of goods to meet organizational metrics, service levels, and delivery schedules in a fast-paced environment. The Operations Manager will support all aspects of business operations, including inbound and outbound logistics, while fostering a productive and safe workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee floor operations and ensure associates are on task and working efficiently.
  • Manage the flow of goods to meet organizational metrics and KPIs.
  • Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Direct associates on proper clocking codes for accurate timekeeping.
  • Maintain records and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Report discrepancies to the Operations Director.
  • Coach, develop, and train associates as needed.
  • Promote labor sharing and cross-training among associates.
  • Manage attendance, performance, and conduct issues according to company policies.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment and report any unsafe acts or injuries.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues promptly as needed.
  • Perform regular floor operations duties such as unloading, loading, picking, and putting away goods.
  • Carry out daily priorities as directed by the Operations Director.
  • Assume the duties of the Operations Director during their absence.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred; high school education or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in a warehouse/distribution environment preferred.
  • Strong technical skills to perform tasks within the area of responsibility.
  • Excellent human relations skills to work effectively with associates and teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to correspond with senior leaders.
  • Administrative skills to plan, organize, and coordinate operations effectively.
  • Conceptual skills to interpret and apply information for decision-making.
  • Leadership skills to engage and motivate associates to accomplish operational tasks.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision in a high-energy environment.
  • Ability to assess priorities and make decisions to meet business objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple employees performing various functions.
