About the position

The Manager of Distribution System and DER Planning in Connecticut is responsible for assessing distribution system planning needs and DER interconnection requirements, developing plans to expand the distribution system to meet current and future demands. This role involves coordinating with various departments and stakeholders to create a long-term strategy for energy infrastructure, ensuring safe and reliable service while driving regulatory changes necessary for the company's goals in decarbonization and resiliency planning.

Responsibilities

• Assess distribution system planning needs and DER interconnection requirements in Connecticut.
• Develop plans and programs to expand the distribution system for current and future demand.
• Coordinate with DSP and DER managers in other states and various internal departments.
• Lead the development of the company's comprehensive strategy for energy infrastructure in Connecticut.
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers to produce data-driven analyses for distribution and DER planning.
• Develop and document processes and standards for system modeling and planning analysis.
• Engage with vendors, partners, and government entities to develop new methods and technologies.
• Provide regulatory testimony and support for rate case proceedings.
• Develop RFPs and procure services and technology for system planning needs.

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Distribution Planning in a utility environment or related area.
• Management experience required.
• Regulatory experience required.
• Excellent knowledge of electric power systems and system planning.
• Demonstrated experience with developing distribution system plans and procedures.
• Excellent understanding of DER interconnection study methodologies and applicable tools.

Nice-to-haves

• MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
