About the position

The Education and Partnership Manager at the Department of Economic Equity and Opportunity is responsible for developing and executing programs that enhance the capabilities of Minority, Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE), and Veteran Owned businesses. This role focuses on fostering relationships with key stakeholders, driving engagement, and implementing outreach strategies to integrate diverse suppliers into the County's supply chain, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and resilient Harris County economy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight for the County's Pathways to Prime program.
  • Design and implement training and development programs for diverse suppliers.
  • Identify and allocate resources to support the growth of diverse suppliers.
  • Develop metrics and reporting tools to assess capacity-building initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders to advocate for diverse suppliers.
  • Collaborate with external organizations to create partnerships supporting diverse supplier development.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on diverse supplier engagement.
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies to recruit diverse suppliers into the supply chain.
  • Plan and participate in supplier diversity events to promote opportunities for diverse suppliers.
  • Develop communication materials to raise awareness of Harris County's commitment to supplier diversity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in supplier diversity, procurement, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of supplier diversity programs and challenges faced by diverse suppliers.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Innovative thinking with a track record of developing successful programs.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to supplier diversity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams and manage project timelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD) or similar certifications.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Familiar with the Houston landscape promoting supplier diversity.
  • Experience with graphic design tools like Canva.
  • Experience with project management tools like Monday.com.
