About the position

As a key player in the Electrical market, you will be responsible for attaining or exceeding the sales and gross margin rate budgets for your assigned sales territory. This role involves implementing the district's market plans to assist in achieving sales and marketing objectives. You will typically manage a team of sales representatives and a sales support team, overseeing a minimum annual budget of $7 million. Your primary focus will be on developing business plans that align with the Electrical market within your territory, collaborating with sales personnel to create tactical plans that support the district's overall strategy. In this position, you will implement the sales management process, which includes utilizing sales rep business plans, pre-call plans, and conducting post-call coaching debriefs. You will establish annual sales and gross margin rates for applicable sales reps and other personnel within the district. Evaluating industry and business trends will be crucial to identify key business opportunities and potential threats within your assigned territory. Building and maintaining relationships with key customers and suppliers will ensure that your sales territory is well-positioned in the marketplace, while also providing guidance and support for retaining profitable business. Additionally, you will ensure that effective recruiting, staffing, employee development, performance management, and succession planning programs are in place within the Electrical sector. A consistent focus on delivering high-quality customer service will be essential. You will also assist in developing and implementing appropriate tools and training programs to support the growth of the Electrical business within your territory.

Responsibilities

  • Develop business plans that support the Electrical market within the assigned territory.
  • Work with appropriate sales personnel to develop tactical plans to implement the district plan.
  • Develop assigned sales territory business plans with suppliers identified as strategic by District Marketing.
  • Implement the sales management process utilizing sales rep business plans, pre-call plans, and post-call coaching debriefs.
  • Establish annual sales and gross margin rates for market applicable sales reps or other sales personnel within the district.
  • Evaluate industry and business trends for potential impact on the district.
  • Identify key business opportunities and potential threats within the assigned sales territory.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers to position the assigned sales territory effectively.
  • Provide guidance and support in the retention of profitable business.
  • Ensure effective recruiting, staffing, employee development, performance management, and succession planning programs are in place.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate tools and training programs to support Electrical business growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in progressively responsible business or wholesale distribution industry roles.
  • High school diploma or GED required; four-year degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the wholesale distribution industry.
  • Knowledge of the Company's business, customers, suppliers, and external market conditions.
  • Knowledge of the Electrical business and the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and practices.
