About the position

The Electrical Engineer Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the design of automated packaging platforms and supporting systems, aimed at enhancing the speed and efficiency of delivery to Amazon's customers. This position is not only about technical expertise but also about providing leadership to a team that is dedicated to developing innovative packaging machinery and automation systems. The manager will oversee the electrical design work-streams, ensuring that all project documentation is thorough and meets certification standards, while also optimizing designs for customer experience, supply chain efficiency, and sustainability. In this role, the Electrical Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineers to design and execute projects related to packaging machinery and automation. This includes leading the electrical design work-streams, which cover a wide range of tasks such as panel design, motor and drive sizing, electrical load calculations, system I/O architecture and layout, wireway placement and design, safety and guarding measures, and the integration of ancillary systems at both the project and platform levels. The manager will be responsible for ensuring that technical, cost, and timeline objectives are met throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, the manager will oversee engineering workstreams that include panel design and layout, power calculations, safety analysis, and compliance with relevant regulations such as UL, CSA, and CE. They will also lead the project team in achieving safety certification for the project or platform, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete and scalable for electrical schematics, BOM, I/O's, and subsystem programs. The role requires fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, setting benchmarks for customer experience, supply chain performance, and sustainability. The team, known as Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP), is dedicated to integrating mechatronics and packaging to develop, deploy, and scale automated solutions across the Amazon Fulfillment Network. This group focuses on delivering solutions that are informed by deep customer insights, ensuring safety is a top priority while also addressing the entire packaging experience, from design to customer delivery. They are committed to eliminating waste and transitioning to sustainable packaging solutions, moving away from single-use plastics to recyclable materials.
