About the position

The Manager Electrical/Hardware Engineer role at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is designed for a leader who will oversee the design and development of electrical and electronic systems. This hybrid position requires working in the office 2-3 days a week, focusing on managing a team of engineers to ensure successful project execution, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making. The role emphasizes leadership, project management, and collaboration across various departments to drive innovation and efficiency in hardware engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct and ongoing leadership for an organization of individual contributors designing and developing System Boards, Mechanical and Thermal Solutions.
  • Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects and programs, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.
  • Engages with program managers, marketing, supply chain, technical leaders, and executives to communicate program status, escalate issues, and guide strategic decision-making.
  • Manages relationships with partners and suppliers, setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Provides overall people-care management for direct reports, including hiring, performance monitoring, coaching, and career development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering; advanced university degree preferred.
  • Typically 10 or more years of design experience, including 5 or more years of people management experience.
  • Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, teambuilding, conflict resolution, and management.
  • Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in managing human capital across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.
  • Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • An EE Degree with MBA is desired.
  • Experience in Agile Methodology and Agile Scrum Development.
  • Strong understanding of the company's policies and processes.
