About the position
The Manager, Embedded Software R&D at Johnson & Johnson MedTech is responsible for leading a team of software engineers in the development and management of software for Class I-III medical devices, particularly focusing on electro-mechanical systems. This role emphasizes detailed design, implementation, verification, and risk management while fostering a culture of professionalism and compliance within the team.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a team of software engineers in the development of embedded software for medical devices.
- Oversee detailed design, implementation, verification, and risk management processes.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to software development processes and tools.
- Set clear expectations and establish roles and responsibilities for direct reports.
- Serve as a technical and leadership mentor to engineering staff.
- Develop and manage design development plans and coach teams for effective execution.
- Hire, develop, mentor, and train engineering talent within the team.
- Promote high standards of professionalism, ethics, and compliance in all activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in managing software development teams, particularly in the medical device industry.
- Strong technical background in embedded software development and electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience with software verification processes including unit testing, integration testing, and system testing.
- Ability to set clear expectations and manage deliverables effectively.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills to develop engineering talent.
